Meet the executive board

Below is our current Executive Board for the 2023-2024 school year. These eight young professionals are the hard-working undergraduate students who keep this organization running firmly.
Cara Chovanec

Cara Chovanec

President

Major: Sports Business
Favorite sports team: Houston Rockets

Bio: Cara Chovanec is from Houston, Texas and is a Senior at the W.P. Carey School of Business. She has been an SBA member since her freshman year, and served as the Vice President of Operations her Junior year. Through SBA, Cara has recieved two internship opportunities with the Arizona Cardinals and the Oakland Athletics, where she will be returning for her third year for the 2024 Spring Training season. This fall she will be an intern for Your Jubilee, a wedding planning company in Scottsdale. After attending many Houston Rockets games, she has always had an interest in the behind the scenes of sports and exactly what it all takes to put on such an event. Outside of SBA, she is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Cara enjoys playing with her dogs in her free time and trying new restaurants around Phoenix. She is excited for SBA and to meet new members this year, along with advancing her career. After graduation Cara would be highly interested in working in sponsorships and activation in the sports industry.

Favorite Sports Team: Seattle Mariners
Bio: Eddie Mabanglo is a junior at Arizona State University studying both sports
business and undergraduate law at the WP Carey School of Business. He was raised
near Seattle, WA, where he became a life-long Mariners fan. He has previously worked for MLB Advanced Media and George Mason University Athletics. He has also worked at the 2017 NBA Finals, Super Bowl 50, and the 2017-2022 MLB All-Star Games. Prior to his election to the SBA Board, Eddie had worked under the Vice President of Outreach in the planning of the organization’s trip to Los Angeles, where he was responsible for putting together and moderating a panel made up of members of the Lakers front office. Eddie is also a sports writer for the ASU Newspaper and a foilist on the fencing team. After graduation, he plans on pursuing a career as a sports agent, general manager, or attorney.
Kyle Megorden

Favorite sports teams: San Diego Padres
Bio: Kyle Megorden is a senior from San Diego studying sports business. Kyle currently works for the ASU baseball team as a student manager and Prep Baseball Report as an Area Scout. Upon graduation Kyle hopes to work for an MLB team in their amateur scouting department.

 

Lauren Towne

Majors: Sports Business (Certificate: Sports Culture and Ethics)

Favorite sports teams: Philadelphia Eagles
Bio: Lauren Towne is a junior at Arizona State University studying sports business with a certificate in sports culture and ethics at the WP Carey School of Business. Lauren was born and raised in Chandler, Arizona and was always destined to be a sun devil. She has had the opportunity to intern with the Arizona Cardinals as a Game Day Operations Intern for the 2022-2023 NFL season and even got to work Super Bowl LVII. Along with that she is a student manager for the ASU baseball team since September of 2022 and continues to be a part of the program. Lauren also works as an administration employee for CSC, Contemporary Services Corporation, an event and security staff company that staffs events from Mullet Arenas’ hockey games and events, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, and many Super Bowls. Outside of SBA, she’s a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and actively participates in multiple committees. Lauren is the oldest of three with a younger sister and brother who she see quite often since they don’t live far. In the future, Lauren would love to work for a baseball team potentially in partnerships where she can create long-lasting relationships with her clients. 
James Taylor

Favorite Sports Team: New York Knicks
Bio: James Taylor is a Junior at Arizona State and is from Dallas, Texas. Since transferring to ASU in the Fall of 2022 he has worked Super Bowl LVII, Spring Training with the Giants, and most recently was an intern for the Junior Golf Association of Arizona. In his free time, James likes to read, work out, and watch basketball.

Bio: Jayden Henifin, a senior at Arizona State University majoring in Sports Business, brings a strong commitment to her career in the sports industry. Her academic journey led her to transfer from the University of Arizona to Arizona State, where she is diligently pursuing her degree while actively building a network within the sports sector. Currently, Jayden is contributing her talents as an intern with Sun Devil Athletics, where she holds the role of Marketing and Game Day Intern. With this she is gaining invaluable experience in the field of sports marketing, setting the stage for her future endeavors. With aspirations set on a career in sports marketing, Jayden aspires to move to New York City post-graduation and work with an agency or Major League Team as a marketing director. She looks forward to the challenges and opportunities that the upcoming year holds as she continues her journey toward becoming a seasoned and accomplished sports business professional.
MICHAEL SHEA

Favorite Sports Team: Chicago Cubs
Bio: Michael Shea is a Senior at ASU from San Clemente, California, majoring in Sports Business and earning a certificate in Applied Business Data Analytics. He has been a part of SBA since his freshman year. Through SBA, Michael has received an internship opportunity with Sun Devil Athletics in their Marketing and Game Presentation Department as well as a role with the Arizona Cardinals as a Guest Experience Specialist. Outside SBA, Michael likes to stay active, watch football, and go out with friends. After graduation, he would love to work for a professional or collegiate team in either business intelligence or activation. Michael is excited for his senior year and meeting new people in SBA.
Hogan Miller

Bio: Hogan Miller is a Senior at Arizona State University studying Sports Business at the WP Carey School of Business as well as pursuing a minor in Communications. He’s from Ahwatukee, Arizona and went to Desert Vista High School before attending ASU. He has worked last year for both the Arizona Cardinals and Sun Devil Athletics as a Marketing/Game day Operations Intern. He worked events that include: Cardinals Games, Fiesta Bowl, Concerts, ASU Athletics Games, and the Super Bowl. He recently worked for BEST Sports as a Youth Sports Coach teaching Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, and Track and Field to youth’s ages 2-10 years old. He is also President of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity here at Arizona State and a member of the ASU Medallion Scholars Program. He likes watching football, going to the movies, hanging out with friends, traveling and working out. After graduation, he is interested in pursuing a career in Scouting for Football Teams.
